Jan Jaap de Graeff (born 1949) joined the Council for the Environment and Infrastructure in 2012, and has served as its acting Chair since 1 January 2016. On 12 February 2016, the Dutch Cabinet decided to nominate him as Chair of the Council for the 2016-2020 period. Prior to joining Rli, Mr De Graeff worked for (in chronological order) the Scientific Council on Government Policy (WRR), the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat), Dutch Water Authorities, and the Environment & Spatial Planning Office of the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW). He served as dike reeve of the Schieland & Krimpenerwaard Regional Water Authority from 1995 to 2003, and as Managing Director of Vereniging Natuurmonumenten from 2003 to 2013. He also holds a number of other positions.
