Podcast 'The often ill-considered choices in politics'
Our new Rli chairman Jan Jacob van Dijk kicks off in a podcast by BNR Nieuwsradio. The conversation is about the often ill-considered choices made in political circles in The Hague, the one-sided focus on financial matters, the excessive focus on the Randstad, and advice that often seems to be totally obvious but has to be provided all the same. Van Dijk goes on to talk about the function, focus, and working methods of the Council and he again highlights the Council's high-profile advisory report Every region counts!, the main message of which was included in the new Dutch Cabinet’s Framework Coalition Agreement. The Council’s recent advisory report on focusing on wellbeing also comes up several times during the conversation. Van Dijk concludes by referring to the urgent report Systemic failure in policy on the living environment. The Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations has raised the issue of what needs to change to be able to make progress on the necessary major tasks in the living environment. Publication is expected in late 2024.
