Every year, the Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (Rli) draws up a work programme that is adopted by the Ministers of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW), Economic Affairs (EZ), Climate Policy and Green Growth (KGG), Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN), Housing and Spatial Planning (VRO) and the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK). The present work programme outlines the topics for advice and planning for 2025-2026.
With the topics for advice from the new work programme, the Council aims to make a valuable contribution to the quality of our living environment and infrastructure.
Themes for advice
Six ongoing advisory reports are continuing in 2025:
1. Systemic failure in policy on the living environment
2. Inclusive sustainability
3. Materials transition in housing construction
4. Caribbean Netherlands
5. Sustainable drinking water supply
6. Working for a sustainable living environment through state-owned enterprises
The five new advisory reports that the Council will deal with in the work programme are:
1. Does every region count?
2. A healthy living environment
3. Our nature targets: why and how?
4. Land for sustainable choices
5. Who is in charge of managing common goods?
In consultation with the ministries, the newly constituted Council concluded that, given all the government efforts in this area in the intervening period, the yet-to-be-initiated Main Energy Structure advisory report is not the highest priority at the moment and can therefore be dropped. Moreover, government intervention in the construction of this infrastructure is addressed in both our advisory report Influencing state-owned enterprises and the report Who is in charge of managing common goods?, which the Council plans to start in 2025 (see above).
