Jan Jacob van Dijk appointed new chairman of Council for the Environment and Infrastructure

16 February 2024 – Jan Jacob van Dijk will become the new chairman of the Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (Rli). The Council of Ministers approved his appointment at the proposal of the caretaker Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Mark Harbers. Van Dijk succeeds Jan Jaap de Graeff, whose term of office is expiring. The appointment will apply for the Rli's fourth Council term (2024-2028) and will take effect on 1 August 2024.

 Jan Jacob van Dijk will become the new chairman of the Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (Rli).

On 1 August 2024, the Rli’s third Council term will come to an end and the composition of the council will change. Over the coming months the new Council chairman will be responsible for recruiting Council members and for preparing a government nomination for the composition of the new Council.

Jan Jacob van Dijk (1964) has been chairman of the Executive Board of the Christelijke Onderwijsgroep Vallei & Central Gelderland since June 2018. He previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Christian Democrat party (CDA) and as a regional minister for the Province of Gelderland. Van Dijk was also a member of the board of the Association of the Dutch Provinces (IPO), as well as associate professor of Christian social thinking at VU Amsterdam, the university where he had previously studied political science.
